प्रणवाक्षर

 प्रणवाक्षर शब्द दो शब्दों से मिलकर बना है— प्रणव + अक्षर। इसका संबंध भारतीय दर्शन, वेद और उपनिषदों में अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है। सामान्यतः “ॐ” (ओम्) को ही प्रणवाक्षर कहा जाता है।

1. प्रणवाक्षर का अर्थ

प्रणवाक्षर वह पवित्र ध्वनि या अक्षर है जो सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्मांड का मूल नाद माना जाता है। भारतीय धर्मग्रंथों में “ॐ” को प्रणवाक्षर कहा गया है।

प्रणव का अर्थ है – परम पवित्र ध्वनि या ईश्वर का नाम।

अक्षर का अर्थ है – जो कभी नष्ट न हो।

अतः प्रणवाक्षर वह अविनाशी ध्वनि है जो सृष्टि के मूल में स्थित है।

2. प्रणवाक्षर का स्वरूप

प्रणवाक्षर “ॐ” तीन ध्वनियों से मिलकर बना है:

अ (A) – सृष्टि या उत्पत्ति का प्रतीक

उ (U) – पालन या संरक्षण का प्रतीक

म (M) – संहार या अंत का प्रतीक

इन तीनों ध्वनियों के मिलन से ॐ बनता है, जो सृष्टि के तीनों कार्यों का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।

3. धार्मिक और दार्शनिक महत्व

ईश्वर का प्रतीक – भारतीय दर्शन में ॐ को परमात्मा का प्रतीक माना गया है।

सृष्टि का मूल नाद – यह माना जाता है कि सृष्टि की शुरुआत इसी ध्वनि से हुई।

वेदों का सार – वेदों में ॐ को समस्त मंत्रों का मूल बताया गया है।

ध्यान और योग में महत्व – योग और ध्यान में ॐ का उच्चारण मन को शांत और एकाग्र बनाता है।

4. उपनिषदों में प्रणवाक्षर

उपनिषदों में ॐ को ब्रह्म का स्वरूप माना गया है। विशेष रूप से माण्डूक्य उपनिषद में बताया गया है कि ॐ ही सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्मांड का प्रतीक है और इसके माध्यम से आत्मा तथा परमात्मा का ज्ञान प्राप्त किया जा सकता है।

5. योग और ध्यान में महत्व

योग साधना में ॐ के उच्चारण से:

मानसिक शांति प्राप्त होती है

एकाग्रता बढ़ती है

तनाव कम होता है

आध्यात्मिक विकास होता है

इसी कारण योग और ध्यान की शुरुआत अक्सर ॐ के उच्चारण से की जाती है।

प्रणवाक्षर “ॐ” भारतीय संस्कृति और दर्शन का अत्यंत पवित्र और महत्वपूर्ण प्रतीक है। यह सृष्टि के आरंभ, पालन और अंत का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है तथा आध्यात्मिक साधना का प्रमुख माध्यम माना जाता है। इसलिए इसे समस्त मंत्रों का मूल और ईश्वर का प्रतीक माना गया है।

Essence of the Vedas – In the Vedas, Om is described as the root of all mantras.


Importance in Meditation and Yoga – Chanting Om in yoga and meditation calms and concentrates the mind.


4. Pranava syllable in the Upanishads


In the Upanishads, Om is considered a form of Brahman. In particular, the Mandukya Upanishad states that Om symbolizes the entire universe and that through it, knowledge of the soul and the Supreme Being can be attained.


5. Importance in Yoga and Meditation


Chanting Om in yoga practice:


Brings mental peace


Increases concentration


Reduces stress


Follows spiritual development


For this reason, yoga and meditation are often initiated with the chanting of Om.
